**Zodia Markets Granted License to Operate in Abu Dhabi**
The Abu Dhabi Global Market (ADGM) has granted a license to Zodia Markets, a digital asset exchange, to operate in the Emirate.
ADGM was one of the first jurisdictions to introduce a bespoke licensing regime for virtual asset service providers. In February, Abu Dhabi announced a $2 billion initiative to support Web3 projects.
“The ADGM is committed to supporting the development of the global digital asset ecosystem and providing a robust regulatory framework for the safe and orderly growth of this sector,” said Salem Mohammed Al Darei, CEO of ADGM Authority.
Zodia Markets chose Abu Dhabi, the UAE’s capital, as a strategic expansion to provide institutional investors from the Middle East and Africa with access to crypto, according to the announcement.
