BlockFi **Thala Labs, a startup building DeFi products on Aptos, has raised $13 million in a seed round led by Parafi Capital, White Star Capital, and Shima Capital.**
The round also saw participation from Beco Capital, LedgerPrime, Saison Capital, and Infinity Ventures Crypto.
Thala Labs was co-founded by Avery Ching and Mo Shaikh, who both previously worked on the now-defunct Diem project. The startup is focused on building decentralized finance (DeFi) applications on Aptos, a new blockchain designed to be scalable, decentralized, and secure.
“At Thala, we are focused on building the foundational DeFi primitives for Aptos, such as composability, decentralization, and innovation,” said Adam Coder, co-founder of Thala Labs. “This investment will help us continue to build on our vision for Aptos and further the innovation of the Move programming language.”
Thala Labs is currently building a decentralized over-collateralized stablecoin called Move Dollar. The startup is focused on solving the challenges of maintaining stability, security, and capital efficiency in stablecoins.
The 12-person team at Thala Labs will use the new funding to accelerate its business activities, including hiring and increasing security audits. The startup has already completed an audit from Aptos Labs’ Zellic Auditor.
