**Sprint, SoftBank, and TBCASoft Partner on Blockchain**
**Sprint, SoftBank, and TBCASoft have announced a partnership to explore the use of blockchain technology in the telecom industry.** The three companies will work together to develop and test blockchain-based solutions for carrier-to-carrier interactions, as well as end-user enhancements.
**The partnership is still in its early stages, and joint trials will not begin until June.** However, Sprint has already confirmed its involvement, saying:
"We entered this partnership with SoftBank and TBCASoft as part of our mutual interest to understand the full potential of blockchain to improve carrier-to-carrier interactions and, ultimately, end-user enhancements to further simplify for customers."
**Sprint is not alone in its interest in blockchain technology.** A number of other telecom companies have also filed patents related to the technology in recent years, including AT&T, British Telecommunications PLC, and Verizon.
**Some telecoms have also sought collaborative efforts around blockchain.** Swisscom Ag, which is state-owned, became a member of the Linux Foundation-led Hyperledger blockchain project in December, and UAE-based du joined Dubai's Global Blockchain Council last year.
**Others, including France-based Orange, have moved to invest in the space directly.**
