Seven people, including rapper T.I., have settled charges with the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) over their involvement in two initial coin offerings (ICOs).
The SEC alleged that the defendants raised about $450,000 through the ICOs, which they then used for personal expenses.
T.I., whose real name is Clifford Harris Jr., allegedly promoted the Flik ICO on social media and told his followers that he was a co-owner of the company. The Flik ICO raised about $165,000.

The SEC has been cracking down on ICOs in recent years, as many of them have been used as vehicles for fraud. In Friday's announcement, the SEC said that it is "committed to protecting investors from those who would abuse the capital raising potential of digital assets."
