, Coinfloor, a London-based cryptocurrency exchange, has announced the launch of its new cryptocurrency derivatives trading platform, Coinfloorex.
Coinfloorex will offer physically settled Bitcoin futures contracts, which means that the exchange will deliver the underlying Bitcoin to the buyer upon contract maturity. This is in contrast to the cash-settled Bitcoin futures contracts offered by CME Group and CBOE, which do not involve the actual delivery of Bitcoin.
Coinfloor claims that its physically settled Bitcoin futures contracts will be more transparent than those offered by other exchanges, as they will provide greater clarity on the exact amount of Bitcoin that will be delivered to the buyer upon contract maturity.
Coinfloor CEO Obi Nwosu said: “Our mission is to bridge the gap between traditional fiat and digital currencies, thereby promoting the stability and long-term viability of cryptocurrencies. There has been a lot of demand from our clients for a shift from cash-settled to physically-settled futures contracts. However, this is a complex undertaking. We have been working on this for the past two years and are now excited to bring it to market. This will allow our clients to benefit from this tool while still adhering to their risk limits and trading strategies.”
Coinfloor also said that it will use 100% multi-signature cold storage to protect client funds.
Coinfloorex is expected to launch in April.
