**Qredo lays off 50 employees, focuses on core protocol and web3 custody business**
Qredo, a blockchain-based digital asset custody platform, has laid off about 50 employees, or 35% of its workforce, according to The Block.
The layoffs include senior operations roles such as Product Manager Gabriele Farei and Information Security Director Asen Taskov.
“Due to the prolonged crypto winter, Qredo will focus all its efforts into its core protocol and its web3 custody business,” a Qredo spokesperson told The Block.
Qredo acts as a property registration agency, depository, and connection of Layer-1 assets to the Layer-2 Qredochain blockchain. Qredo’s revenue comes from the transaction fee on the platform.
Founded in 2018, Qredo has now raised a total of $94 million. After the $80 million Series A round in February 2022, Qredo was valued at $460 million.
