The Financial Industry Regulatory Authority (FINRA) has fined Tezos co-founder Arthur Breitman $200,000 for allegedly failing to disclose his involvement in the development and promotion of the Tezos blockchain project while he was employed at Morgan Stanley.
In a statement, FINRA said that Breitman violated a rule requiring registered broker-dealers to notify their employers of any outside business activities that could generate financial compensation. Breitman also allegedly provided false information when answering questionnaires from his employer about his outside business activities.
The fine comes at a time when Tezos is facing a number of legal challenges. In November 2017, four class-action lawsuits were filed against the company alleging that it violated U.S. securities laws by issuing unregistered tokens.
Breitman's attorney, David Silver, said in a statement that the fine was "not material" to Tezos and that the company would continue to cooperate with regulators.
