The price of Litecoin (LTC), the fifth largest cryptocurrency by market capitalization, increased by more than 20% on Thursday, reaching an all-time high of $295.46.
The surge in Litecoin price is attributed to increased interest from the community in the Litebringer, a fantasy RPG game based on blockchain that allows players to trade in-game items for Litecoin.
The daily transactions on the Litecoin blockchain soared to about 165,000 in September, although this number has decreased since then. However, the number of daily transactions increased slightly on Thursday, from 58,000 to 71,000.
The cryptocurrency market in general continues to perform well. Bitcoin increased by 26% this week, Ethereum increased by 17%, XRP increased by 14% and Bitcoin Cash increased by 20%.
The entire market capitalization has increased by 3.38% in the past 24 hours.
Litecoin still has a distance compared to its all-time high of $375.29, but with the general trend of an excited market as at the moment, anything can happen.
