**LedgerX's Bitcoin Derivatives Trading Volume Grew 7x Since Launch**
LedgerX, a CFTC-regulated cryptocurrency derivatives exchange, has seen its Bitcoin derivatives trading volume grow by 7x since its launch in May.
The company processed a total of $50 million in derivative product trading volume in July, according to Juthica Chou, President and Head of Risk at LedgerX. Earlier this month, the company also executed its largest-ever trade for a $15 million Bitcoin derivative contract that will mature in December.
In response to growing demand from its customers, LedgerX launched a new Bitcoin purchase system last month. The new system, called One-Click Bitcoin, will act as a “market maker” for institutional investors or customers who want to easily buy Bitcoin through a platform that is regulated by the CFTC, Chou said. The service was built on top of the LedgerX Savings platform, which the company introduced in May of this year.
“The demand for this type of product is quite high,” Chou said. “I think that the fact that our derivative and options products are really effective long-term products, they can provide valuable solutions for a lot of participants.”
“June was one of our record months, and July is our highest month. If you look at the way our company does trades, you can see that the value has increased by a third compared to the previous month. We’ve seen a lot of stable activity.”
The platform is now available to all LedgerX customers, which include nearly 130 institutions and high-net-worth individuals.
The company has already begun trading on the new system, and customers will receive a 15% annualized return on their investment over the next six months. This figure will remain the same even if the price of Bitcoin decreases or stagnates during that time period.
In the future, LedgerX plans to add Ethereum products to its platform. The company is still seeking regulatory approval, but Chou is confident that it will be granted because all of its products are “fully collateralized.”
