Digital investing platform Stash has raised $100 million in convertible debt to fuel its expansion into cryptocurrency investing.
The round was led by existing investor Eldridge, with participation from new investors including Owl Ventures, funds and accounts advised by T. Rowe Price Associates, Goodwater Capital and Entree Capital.
Stash says it will use the funds to support its growth and product development, including its recently launched cryptocurrency offering.
In October, Stash expanded access to eight cryptocurrencies for its more than two million active users in the U.S. through separate crypto accounts. Apex Crypto, a subsidiary of Apex Fintech Solutions, provides the investment infrastructure.
Stash first opened crypto access to users with its fully managed Smart Portfolio account type in January, with exposure to Bitcoin and Ether coming through two trusts managed by digital asset manager Grayscale (like CoinDesk, a unit of Digital Currency Group).
“We’re thrilled to welcome new investors to our cap table as we continue to scale our business and accelerate our crypto efforts,” said Brandon Krieg, co-founder and CEO of Stash. “This funding will help us provide our customers with even more access to the crypto market and support our mission of helping people invest for the long term.”
