**Huawei Mate 50 Pro and Mate 50 RS Porsche Design now support Face Unlock with mask**
Huawei is currently the only company besides Apple that offers a 3D Face Unlock facial authentication system on its phones. The company has now released a new software update (HarmonyOS 3.0.0.156) for the Huawei Mate 50 Pro and Mate 50 RS Porsche Design phones in the Chinese market to enable face authentication support when wearing a mask.
This means that users can now unlock their phones and authenticate payments even when they are wearing a mask. This is the same feature as Apple's "Face ID with a Mask" feature that was launched earlier this year and is supported on iPhones from the iPhone 12 onwards.
The update also allows users to register their faces while wearing glasses for improved accuracy. It is also possible to register faces with makeup, which is something that the iPhone does not support.
It is not clear whether Huawei plans to bring this feature to the Mate 50 devices in the international market.
