Grayscale Investments, the world's largest digital asset manager, announced Thursday that its Ethereum Trust is now open to all investors. The minimum investment has been lowered from $25,000 to $2,500.
“All types of investors will be able to gain exposure to the price movement of Ethereum without the challenges of buying, storing, and safekeeping Ethereum,” Grayscale wrote in a blog post.
The trust, which was created in December 2017, has about $7.5 billion in assets under management. It trades over the counter (OTC) under the symbol ETHE.
This is a significant development for the cryptocurrency market, as it makes it easier for retail investors to get exposure to Ethereum. Previously, the trust was only available to accredited investors who had a minimum net worth of $200,000.
