**Bank of Brazil Tokenizes $1.95 Million Agribusiness Deal in Regulatory Sandbox**
Banco do Brasil (BB), the largest public bank in Brazil, has tokenized a $1.95 million agribusiness deal in a regulatory sandbox environment, the company said in a statement.
The transaction, which involved the sale of cattle by agricultural lender Agrimony to meat processor Marfrig, was the first regulated financial market transaction in Brazil, according to BB.
Other banks have also recently joined Brazil's tokenization market. In December, Santander issued 40 million reais ($7.8 million) in tokenized bonds to Indigo, a parking management company.
Itaú Unibanco, Brazil's largest private bank, announced in July 2022 the launch of its tokenization platform, called ITU Digital Assets. The company also offers cryptocurrency custody and testing-as-a-service (TaaS) products.
