Rally, a social token platform, is planning to decentralize its operations, giving token holders more control over the network.
The company is proposing to split its operations into five entities: Rally, a for-profit company that will run the core protocol; Rally Ecosystem DAO, a community-governed organization that will oversee network development; a yet-to-be-named Asia affiliate; venture studio Superlayer; and the $RLY Network Association, a Swiss-based nonprofit that will oversee the protocol.
Rally token holders will vote on the proposal on August 25. If approved, the decentralization plan would make Rally the latest crypto project to embrace self-governance.
"We're trying to take it a step further by really establishing a very community-focused DAO on top of the ecosystem as well," Rally founder Kevin Chou told CoinDesk in an interview.
Rally token holders in the Rally Ecosystem DAO would get a starter budget of 10 million RLY tokens (worth roughly $5.4 million at today's prices) to spend through community votes on network development.
The proposal also includes a $50 million treasury fundraise, which Rally token holders have already approved.
