The Canadian Securities Administrators (CSA) has said that no cryptocurrency trading platforms have been regulated as a marketplace by Canadian securities regulators.
The CSA is a collective forum comprising the regional securities regulators of Canada.
The statement comes after the collapse of QuadrigaCX, a Canadian cryptocurrency exchange that filed for creditor protection in January. QuadrigaCX users have been unable to access their funds since the firm's founder and CEO, Gerald Cotten, died in December.
The CSA said that it is aware of the situation at QuadrigaCX and is working with the Nova Scotia Securities Commission to investigate the matter.
The CSA also said that it is working with other regulators around the world to develop a framework for regulating cryptocurrency trading platforms.
