**Ethereum Foundation Donates \$25,000 to UNICEF Crypto Fund**
The Ethereum Foundation has donated \$25,000 worth of cryptocurrency to UNICEF's Crypto Fund. The donation will be used to support UNICEF's work in providing and improving internet access in public schools around the world.
"Paying for school connectivity, seeing a light go on for a school [on the project connect map] and being able to record that on a ledger ... This gives you a full cycle [of accountability]," said Chris Fabian, Head of UNICEF Ventures.
The donation is the first contribution to UNICEF's Crypto Fund, which was set up in 2018. The fund aims to provide UNICEF with the resources it needs to use cryptocurrency to support its work.
"We spent the last two years building up this capacity [of setting up a crypto fund]," said Fabian. "We're sharing that capacity with other [UN] organizations so they don't do the same legal and finance work we did."
Fabian stressed the need for social-impact organizations to adapt to current technologies.
"We need to build up the muscle that will allow us to be ready for the future," he said.
