**CSA's Twitter account was hacked to promote Bitcoin lottery**
The official Twitter account of the Crypto Valley Association (CSA), with more than one million followers, was hacked last night. A series of tweets were posted to promote a Bitcoin (BTC) lottery scam to viewers.
CSA announced the hack on its Twitter account early this morning.
The fraudulent tweets have since been deleted from Twitter.
The posts claimed that CSA had partnered with cryptocurrency wallet Luno to offer users the chance to win 20 BTC ($70,900). The tweets (which have since been deleted) included a wallet address for users to send Bitcoin to in order to participate.
The scam tweets were live for around five hours before being removed.
Luno has since denied the claims, stating that it has no partnership or agreement with CSA regarding the promotion.
"We refute any involvement in a CSA tweet," the company said in a statement.
CSA has since apologized to its followers for the hack.
CSA is not the first Twitter account to be hacked in order to promote a Bitcoin scam. Last year, a series of Twitter accounts were hacked in order to steal more than $170,000.
The scammers pretended to be the Tesla Twitter account and posted tweets from Tesla CEO Elon Musk, promising to reward BTC to participants.
Litecoin founder Charlie Lee has also been the victim of a similar scam.
Many similar scammers have flooded Twitter with hacked accounts, looking to lure victims with the promise of free Bitcoin.
