Square has expanded its Bitcoin buying option to residents of Georgia and Hawaii, two states that were previously not supported due to restrictive regulations.
The company first launched the Bitcoin purchasing option on its Cash App in January following a testing phase that began last year. However, the service was not available in New York, Georgia, Hawaii, or Wyoming due to their respective regulations regarding Bitcoin transactions.
In March, Square expanded the option to residents of Wyoming after the state passed a bill to remove the double reserve requirement for companies dealing with virtual currencies.
Square has also secured a so-called "Bitlicense" in New York, making it one of only a handful of cryptocurrency services to be allowed to operate in the state.
The company previously revealed in its earnings reports that its Bitcoin service made a small margin of around $420,000 in the second quarter of this year - a number that is still double the figure for the initial three months after the service launched.
