**Banco Santander, CNMV and other banks test blockchain for faster processing of securities**
Banco Santander, the Spanish securities regulator CNMV, and three other banks have successfully tested a blockchain-based platform that could speed up the processing of securities issuance.
The pilot project, which was conducted over the course of six months, showed that the time to register a warrant issuance was cut by more than 70 percent using the pilot platform.
“After obtaining such good results, CNMV has decided to continue exploring the possible uses of this technology in its processes and carry on with the project,” the regulator said in a statement.
The other banks involved in the project were BNP Paribas, Commerzbank and Société Générale.
