**Soluna secures $65M to build 3 bitcoin mining data centers**
Soluna, a bitcoin mining company that says it uses renewable energy, has secured $65 million in funding to build three data centers in Texas.
The company said the new capital brings its total funding to $100 million. It most recently closed a $29.2 million Series A preferred stock public offering and sold a business unit for $10.75 million.
Soluna's data centers will be co-located with renewable energy assets, such as wind farms, to help manage the supply of electricity. When the amount of energy produced by a wind farm exceeds demand, the excess energy can be used to power bitcoin mining operations.
The company said its first data center, called Dorothy, will have a capacity of 100 megawatts (MW) and will be connected to a Texas wind farm. Dorothy is expected to be activated in the coming months.
The other two projects will "come from soluna's roobust pipeline," the company said.
