**FTX CEO Sam Bankman-Fried Loses Bid to Subpoena Law Firm Fenwick & West**
FTX CEO Sam Bankman-Fried has lost a bid to subpoena law firm Fenwick & West for documents related to his criminal insider trading case.
Bankman-Fried had asked a federal judge to compel U.S. prosecutors to hand over documents given to the government by the law firm, or failing that, seek a court order to subpoena Fenwick & West for the same documents.
New York District Court Judge Lewis A. Kaplan on Friday denied Bankman-Fried's request, saying that neither Fenwick & West nor the FTX defendants are part of the "prosecution team."
"The government has no duty to produce materials that are not within its possession, custody, or control," the order added.
Bankman-Fried's criminal trial is set to begin later this year.
