The acquisition will see six Algrim engineers join Ripple’s team, with the new team playing a key role in integrating the On-Demand Liquidity (ODL) product.
Iceland will become one of Ripple’s technical hubs, joining London and other European offices.
“Algrim has integrated with over 30 markets in the last two years building out its crypto trading platform, and this team will bring significant integration expertise to Ripple,” the company said in a statement.
Algrim CEO Dadi Armannsson described the acquisition as a “match made in heaven,” saying:
“Both companies share a vision for the future of digital assets and blockchain technology, and that is what we have both been working towards for the past few years.”
Ripple has been on an acquisition spree in recent months, buying the Logos Network payment platform through its Xpring project and announcing a partnership with MoneyGram earlier this year.
