Frankfurt-based Hauck & Aufhäuser has launched a new cryptocurrency fund for institutional investors, the bank announced Tuesday.
The fund, which is called the Hauck & Aufhäuser Digital Assets Fund, will invest in a basket of cryptocurrencies that are selected by the fund's managers. The managers will take a passive investment strategy, meaning that they will not actively trade the fund's assets. Instead, the cryptocurrency allocation will be based on the current market capitalization of the assets.
The bank is partnering with the custody arm of Berlin-based fintech company Kapilendo, which will manage the secure storage of the crypto assets in the fund.
The Hauck & Aufhäuser Digital Assets Fund is one of the first cryptocurrency funds to be launched by a private bank for high-net-worth individuals and institutional investors.
