The Federal Reserve Bank of Philadelphia will hold a conference on the potential impact of blockchain technology on financial stability on February 27, 2019.
The conference, which is titled “Blockchain and Financial Stability,” will bring together central bankers, regulators, and financial industry experts to discuss the potential risks and benefits of blockchain technology.
“Blockchain technology, which was initially used for Bitcoin transactions, also has the potential to create a major disruption in the financial landscape,” the Philadelphia Fed said in a statement. “However, it remains unclear whether this sector will continue to grow (since it has not yet gone through the entire economic cycle) and what impact it will have on monetary policy and financial stability overall.”
The conference is set to include presentations on topics such as “Blockchain and Financial Stability,” “Blockchain Disruption and Smart Contracts,” and “The Future of Central Banking.”
