New York-based Managego, a platform for landlords and tenants, announced that it will start accepting cryptocurrency as a payment method for rent.
Managego will not hold the cryptocurrencies, but will instead immediately convert them into fiat money.
The company believes that integrating cryptocurrencies will help it gain prominence, having realized there would be interest in the additional payment option after conducting surveys.
“We thought this would be a next-level amenity,” Managego VP of Business Strategy Chairenstein Lowenstein told Technical.ly.
While cryptocurrency-friendly rent programs are rare, earlier this year, Switzerland-based VisionAppear announced it would accept bitcoins. Unlike Managego, that company only accepts the cryptocurrency at its own properties.
