The survey, conducted by the Digital Currency Council, found that 23% of respondents would use Western Union, while 22% would use PayPal. Just 6% said they would use MoneyGram, and 10% said they would use the postal service.
Interestingly, 37.2% of respondents said they would not trust any of the aforementioned money transfer options.
Commenting on the results, David Berger, CEO of the Digital Currency Council, said: "While Bitcoin transactions may not technically require trust between parties, it is clear that consumers still place their faith in established institutions to send money."
He concluded that earning consumers' trust will be critical to driving the widespread adoption of Bitcoin.
