**Nil Foundation, a non-profit research organization, and Fabric Cryptography, a startup developing hardware for cryptography, said in a press release that their partnership will make ZKPs more accessible and affordable for a wider range of applications.**
**ZKPs have a variety of potential uses, from decongesting networks like Ethereum to helping with data provisioning in artificial intelligence applications. However, adoption has been limited due to bottlenecks in computation, the two organizations said.**
**“The strategic alliance between Fabric and Nil Foundation paves the way for almost unlimited, cost-effective, and high-speed ZKP-dedicated computing power readily available, making ZKPs a viable tool for every digital transaction, cloud service, and privacy-sensitive application,” the release said.**
**The Nil Foundation was founded in 2018 as a research collective before morphing into a traditional startup. In January, it raised $22 million to build a marketplace for ZKPs and has developed a zero-knowledge low-level virtual machine (zkllvm), which aims to streamline development for ZKP developers.**
**Fabric Cryptography, based in Silicon Valley, is developing a general-purpose processor for “next-gen cryptography,” including ZKPs, called the Verifiable Processing Unit (VPU).**
**The virtual machine and processing unit have been made compatible with each other, and the ZKLLVM software will see “major performance advantages” when running on Fabric’s hardware in order to accelerate the implementation of ZKPs.**
