**Japan's SBI and SMFG to launch digital securities exchange**
Japan's SBI Group and Sumitomo Mitsui Financial Group (SMFG) are set to launch a digital securities exchange in March 2023, the Nikkei reported.
The exchange, which will be called the Osaka Digital Exchange (ODX), will be Japan's first such stock exchange, allowing investors to trade digital securities using blockchain technology.
SBI and SMFG, which both have brokerage arms, will own 60% and 40% of the ODX, respectively.
The news comes after the Tokyo Stock Exchange (TSE) was criticized for a major hardware glitch in September that caused the worst outage ever for the world's third-largest equity market.
