**BANGKOK, Thailand – March 8, 2021** – SCB 10X, the corporate venture arm of Siam Commercial Bank (SCB), has invested in Alpha Finance Lab, a decentralized finance (DeFi) platform developing an ecosystem focused on products that can interoperate across different blockchains.
The investment is part of SCB 10X’s mission to promote financial inclusion and innovation in Thailand and the wider region. SCB 10X believes that blockchain-enabled financial services have the potential to spur financial inclusion, enable open access and encourage innovation.
“We are excited to partner with Alpha Finance Lab to support the development of DeFi products and services that can benefit a wider range of users,” said Mukaya Panich, chief venture and investment officer at SCB 10X. “We believe that DeFi has the potential to revolutionize the financial services industry, and we are committed to supporting its growth in Thailand and the region.”
Alpha Finance Lab is a Singapore-based DeFi platform that was founded in 2019. The platform’s flagship product is Alpha Homora, a lending protocol that allows users to leverage their crypto assets to earn yield on a wider range of DeFi protocols. Alpha Finance Lab has also developed a number of other DeFi products, including a yield farming aggregator and a decentralized exchange.
The investment from SCB 10X will help Alpha Finance Lab to scale its operations and develop new products and services. The company plans to use the funds to hire new talent, expand its marketing and outreach efforts, and invest in research and development.
