Ngân hàng trung ương Campuchia, đã ra mắt một hệ thống thanh toán dựa trên blockchain mới, được gọi là Project Bakong.
Hệ thống này, dựa trên nền tảng Hyperledger Iroha, được phát triển với sự hợp tác của công ty blockchain của Nhật Bản Soramitsu.
Phát biểu tại sự kiện ra mắt, Chea Serey, giám đốc Ngân hàng Quốc gia Campuchia, đã mô tả Bakong là một cơ sở hạ tầng thanh toán, thay vì một loại tiền điện tử do Ngân hàng Trung ương ban hành.
Cô cho biết hai mục tiêu chính của dự án là giúp người lao động nhập cư ở Campuchia gửi tiền về nhà dễ dàng hơn và thúc đẩy việc sử dụng đồng địa phương.
Hiện tại, hơn 90% nền kinh tế ở Campuchia là dựa trên đô la.
Để sử dụng hệ thống mới, người dùng phải đăng ký với các tổ chức - bao gồm khoảng 20 ngân hàng trên khắp Campuchia - bằng cách cung cấp thông tin và số điện thoại của họ.
Serey cho biết Bakong có thể thúc đẩy phúc lợi xã hội của người Viking và đồng thời ngăn chặn sự lây lan của bệnh bằng công nghệ thanh toán điện tử mà không có tiền mặt.

Cambodia’s central bank has launched a new blockchain-based payment system, called Project Bakong.
The system, which is based on the Hyperledger Iroha platform, was developed in collaboration with Japanese blockchain company Soramitsu.
Speaking at the launch event, Chea Serey, director of the National Bank of Cambodia, described Bakong as a payment infrastructure, rather than an electronic currency issued by the central bank.
She said the two main goals of the project are to help migrant workers in Cambodia send money home more easily and to promote the use of the local currency.
Currently, more than 90% of the economy in Cambodia is dollar-based.
To use the new system, users must register with institutions – including about 20 banks across Cambodia – by providing their information and phone numbers.
Serey said Bakong could promote “social welfare and at the same time prevent the spread of disease with electronic payment technology without cash.”
