**Kraken NFT Marketplace Goes Live in Private Beta**
Kraken's much-anticipated NFT marketplace has launched in private beta today, April 11. The exchange first opened early registration for the marketplace in May and had planned to launch it in full this summer.
The marketplace initially lists about 70 NFT collections across the Ethereum and Solana ecosystems, a Kraken spokesperson told The Block.
Customers who purchase NFTs on the marketplace will not have to pay gas fees, but will have to pay gas fees if they transfer NFTs in and out of Kraken.
A royalty fee paid to the NFT creator is a mandatory component on the Kraken Marketplace, though this has been a point of contention for many users and has caused some controversy in recent months.
“A portion of the secondary market sales on our marketplace will go back to the original content creator,” the spokesperson said. “This is a fair payment for their time and effort.”
In addition to the NFTs listed on the marketplace, Kraken will also support viewing and purchasing NFTs on other marketplaces that are integrated with the platform. The marketplace will support NFTs in eight different blockchains as well as more than 200 different cryptocurrencies.
