**Goldman Sachs Is Exploring NFTs as Financial Instruments**
Goldman Sachs is exploring the use of non-fungible tokens (NFTs) as financial instruments, according to the bank's global head of digital assets, Mathew McDermott.
"We are actually exploring NFTs in the context of financial instruments, and actually there the power is actually quite powerful," McDermott said at the Financial Times Crypto and Digital Assets Summit on Wednesday. "So we work on a number of things."
The bank has been a major player in the cryptocurrency space in recent years. It started offering bitcoin (BTC) derivatives to investors in 2021 and conducted its first over-the-counter crypto trade with the digital-asset financial company Galaxy Digital in March of this year.
McDermott said that Goldman Sachs is still in the early stages of its NFT research, but he believes that the technology has the potential to be used for a variety of financial applications, such as trading, lending, and securitization.
"I think the NFT space is still in its early stages, but I think it has a lot of potential," he said. "We're looking at a number of different ways to use NFTs, and we're excited about the possibilities."
