**Slovenia to Brief EU Lawmakers on Blockchain at Upcoming Conference**
Slovenia will brief members of the EU Parliament and representatives from the European Commission on the challenges and solutions offered by blockchain technology at an upcoming conference in Brussels.
The conference, which is being organized by the Blockchain Council, will take place on February 27 at the Royal Palace. Slovenia is one of the founding members of the council, which was launched in January at the annual World Economic Forum meetings.
The council serves as a forum for educating government and business leaders on blockchain technology. In a statement accompanying the unveiling of the council, Slovenia’s Minister of Economic Development and Technology, Zdravko Pocivalsek, said that blockchain “has the potential to revolutionize the way we live and work.”
“Forums like this pave the way for comprehensive collaboration between the private sector and regulators that will enable innovation,” Pocivalsek said.
The conference is the latest sign that EU governing bodies have taken an interest in blockchain technology. In recent months, the European Commission has held hearings on blockchain, commissioned research on the technology, and explored potential use cases for blockchain in the public sector.
