“On Tuesday, #Ethereum fees hit an all-time high in both $USD and $ETH. Since the record was broken, the #2 market cap coin has rallied +13% and investor sentiment remains very bullish. This is a sign that although traders clearly prefer lower fees, the division of people willing to trade through an asset they trust (at least in the short term) is quite small,” the researchers at Santiment wrote.
After Ether broke out of a key resistance level, traders are often predicting a stronger move higher. A popular trader known as “Satoshi Flipper” said that there is no major resistance for ETH until $780.
Typically, when cryptocurrencies see a large price move, open interest will decrease. This is because major moves often lead to a squeeze in the long and short positions for the asset, then a consolidation period.
However, for Ether, open interest has increased to more than $1.5 billion, according to data from Skew. Notably, on Huobi and Okex, this figure has reached $761 million.
