FTSE Russell to Launch Crypto Indexes in June
FTSE Russell, a London Stock Exchange Group subsidiary, will launch cryptocurrency indexes in June, the company said on Tuesday.
The indexes, developed with digital asset research firm Elwood Technologies, will track the performance of 43 digital assets.
FTSE Russell said the indexes will be designed to measure the performance of digital assets across different market segments, including large-cap, mid-cap and small-cap coins.
The company said the indexes will be rebalanced monthly and will be available to investors via exchange-traded funds (ETFs) and other investment products.
The launch of the indexes comes as interest in cryptocurrencies has grown in recent years. However, the crypto market has also been volatile, with the price of Bitcoin falling by more than 50% since its peak in November.
FTSE Russell said it believes the launch of the indexes will help to provide investors with more transparency and access to the crypto market.
