**Xcarnival DeFi Protocol Exploited, Hacker Returns 1,467 ETH of 3.087 ETH Stolen**
Xcarnival, a decentralized finance (DeFi) protocol on the Ethereum blockchain, was exploited on June 26, 2022. The hacker siphoned 3.087 ETH from the protocol, but later returned 1,467 ETH of the stolen funds.
The vulnerability was exploited in multiple transactions over a short period of time at 12:03 UTC on Sunday. The Singapore-based company tweeted that it had suspended part of the protocol and that all deposit and borrowing activity actions were temporarily not supported.
The xcarnival team offered the hacker a 1,500 ETH bounty, an offer that seemingly was accepted after a wallet tagged as "Xcarnival Exploiter" sent 1,467 ETH to the affected wallet, according to Etherscan.
According to the protocol's website, total value locked stands at 2992.05 ETH for borrows and 3014.69 ETH for supply.
