Krug joined Pantera Capital in 2017 as the Liquid Token Foundation Manager of the company's early stage, which lost up to 80% of its value last year from FTX's collapse.
In a letter to Pantera's partners, CEO Dan Morehead said that a new management committee of 65 investment professionals will be established and responsible for the work that Krug was previously responsible for.
Morehead added: "Joey is a friend and we are very sad to see him leave, we hope the transition process will go smoothly."
Morehead also announced in the letter that two new hires would be joining the company, Katrina Paglia as a joint advisor and compliance director, while Marc Selfon would be the new chief financial officer.
