The CFTC has been increasing its attention to the crypto sector, especially as the agency seeks new powers to oversee the non-securities crypto spot market.
On February 13, another of the CFTC’s advisory committees, the Global Markets Advisory Committee (GMAC), met for its first meeting to discuss digital assets issues. Committee member Caroline Pham argued that crypto is “truly borderless” and that policymakers “need to understand what is happening at the international level.”
