Ripple announced that it would start running a node on the XRP Ledger with the University of Toronto, as part of its University Blockchain Research Initiative (UBRI) in Canada.
UBRI was launched by Ripple in 2018 with a commitment of $50 million to connect with 17 universities around the world. Since then, Ripple has invested more than $47 million in its university partners and has committed to increasing its funding to $80 million this year.
“UBRI has made significant contributions to the growth of blockchain and cryptocurrency education in Canada, and the program has provided students with the skills they need to pursue careers in the crypto space,” said Ripple in a statement.
Prior to the University of Toronto, Ripple has partnered with the University of Waterloo and the University of Toronto Metropolitan.
