**Bitflyer, the sixth-largest bitcoin exchange by trading volume, has launched a regulated cryptocurrency exchange in Europe.**
The new exchange, which is based in Luxembourg, will offer trading in bitcoin, bitcoin cash, ethereum, ethereum classic, and litecoin.
Bitflyer received a payment institution license from the Luxembourg regulator, the Commission de Surveillance du Secteur Financier (CSSF), in December.
The company said that it chose Luxembourg as its European base because of the country's strong financial regulations and its commitment to innovation.
“We are delighted that one of the most successful Japanese startups has chosen Luxembourg as its platform,” said Pierre Gramigna, Luxembourg’s Minister of Finance.
To attract new customers, Bitflyer is offering zero-percent trading fees on all cryptocurrency pairs until the end of February.
Bitflyer launched its U.S. exchange in November after receiving approval from regulators including the New York State Department of Financial Services.
