**Wirex partners with Visa to issue crypto-linked cards in 40 countries**
London-based Wirex, which has over 5 million customers, has partnered with Visa to issue crypto-linked debit and prepaid cards in more than 40 countries.
With this expansion, Wirex will be able to directly issue cards to customers in Europe, Asia Pacific, the Middle East, and Africa. The company previously withdrew from the U.K. Financial Conduct Authority's (FCA) Temporary Registration Regime ahead of a deadline to obtain full registration, which meant it would no longer be able to issue cards in the U.K.
"Visa wants to bring more payment options to consumers by connecting digital currencies with our network of banks and merchants," said Matt Wood, Head of Digital Partnerships, Asia Pacific, Visa.
