**Profunds launches Bitcoin Strategy Profund, the first mutual fund tracking Bitcoin**
Profunds, a US-based investment management company, has announced the launch of Bitcoin Strategy Profund (BTCFX), one of the first mutual funds or ETFs to track Bitcoin.
Profunds provides an alternative to traditional methods of holding cryptocurrencies through a wallet or cryptocurrency exchange with this service.
“Compared to buying Bitcoin directly, which may involve opening a new account with an unregulated party, this Profund gives investors the opportunity to interact with Bitcoin through a form and method of investment that tens of millions of investors are familiar with,” said Michael L. Sapir, CEO of Profunds.
However, this joint venture promises access to Bitcoin investments in traditional forms, BTCFX “primarily invests in Bitcoin futures contracts”, avoiding any direct investment in Bitcoin.
Profunds also warns investors about risks when investing in cryptocurrency products, on the grounds that the price is significant and lack of liquidity.
