**UK's financial watchdog to impose new rules on crypto ads**
The Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) will impose new rules on crypto ads that will apply to all firms marketing crypto assets to U.K. consumers, regardless of whether the firm is based overseas or what technology is used to make the promotion.
The new rules, which were proposed last year, are designed to protect consumers from misleading and deceptive crypto ads. They will require crypto firms to be authorized by the FCA before they can promote their products or services to U.K. consumers.
The FCA said that the new rules will come into effect on January 1, 2023.
