**CME Group Launches Ether/Bitcoin Ratio Futures**
CME Group, the world's largest derivatives exchange, has launched Ether/Bitcoin Ratio Futures, which allow investors to trade the ratio between the two cryptocurrencies without having to take a directional view on either one.
"With the addition of Ether/Bitcoin Ratio Futures, investors will be able to capture ether and Bitcoin exposure in a single trade, without needing to take a directional view," said Tim McCourt, global head of CME Group's energy and cryptocurrency products.
The new futures contract will be based on the CME CF Ether/Bitcoin Reference Rate, which is calculated by taking the volume-weighted average price of Ether and Bitcoin over a 24-hour period.
CME Group first launched Bitcoin futures in December 2017, and Ether futures in February 2021. In May, the exchange added daily expirations for Bitcoin and Ether futures options contracts as well as micro-sized Bitcoin and Ether futures.
