Christopher Giancarlo, the chairman of the Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC), compared the current interest in Bitcoin among young Americans to the cultural revolution that the Baby Boomers (generation during the population boom in the middle of the twentieth century) created in the 1970s.
Speaking at the Milken Institute Global Conference in Los Angeles earlier this week, Giancarlo said that young investors today do not really attach importance to traditional financial institutions because they have grown up after a financial crisis that can be said to be the most serious in history. Therefore, for them, Bitcoin is a way to eliminate intermediaries from the supply chain of the economy.
He commented:
