**CBOE Will Not List New Bitcoin Futures Contracts in March**
The Chicago Board Options Exchange (CBOE) has announced that it will not list a new bitcoin (BTC) futures contract in March 2019.
In a notice to traders, CBOE said that it is "assessing its approach with respect to how it plans to continue to offer digital asset derivatives for trading."
CBOE added that it is not currently planning to list any new bitcoin futures contracts.
However, the exchange said that currently listed bitcoin futures contracts will remain available for trading.
CBOE launched its bitcoin futures contract in December 2017, along with its rival, the Chicago Mercantile Exchange (CME).
However, CBOE's bitcoin futures contract has not been as successful as CME's.
CME's bitcoin futures contract has seen much higher trading volumes than CBOE's.
CBOE's bitcoin futures contract is cash-settled, meaning that at the end of the contract, one party pays the other the difference between the spot and futures prices of bitcoin.
By contrast, CME's bitcoin futures contract is physically settled, meaning that real bitcoin is delivered to the buyer at the end of the contract.
