**G20 endorses FSB's recommendations for global crypto regulation**
The G20 has endorsed the Financial Stability Board's (FSB) recommendations for global crypto regulation, Indian Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman said on Tuesday.
The announcement was made after the third Finance Ministers and Central Bank Governors meeting held during India's presidency in eastern India's Gandhinagar, Gujarat over the past few days.
"Members endorsed the recommendations of the FSB on the regulation of stablecoins and other crypto assets," Sitharaman said in a statement.
The FSB's recommendations include establishing a global framework for regulating stablecoins, which are cryptocurrencies that are pegged to a fiat currency, such as the U.S. dollar.
The FSB also called for greater oversight of crypto exchanges and other crypto businesses.
Sitharaman said that the G20 also discussed India's presidency note on crypto, which she described as "an important input towards prioritizing areas of work essential for achieving a comprehensive cohesive and coordinated global policy and regulatory framework."
The G20 will be presented a joint synthesis paper of the FSB and International Monetary Fund (IMF) that focuses on the global macro implications of crypto in September. That's when the position of the G20 on crypto during India's presidency will be finalized.

Central banks around the world are studying the issue, and a recent study by the Bank for International Settlements found around 15 retail CBDCs are likely to be in circulation by 2030.
