The price of Bitcoin (BTC) fell below $12,000 on August 6, as a sell-off that began earlier in the day accelerated.
BTC had reached a 24-hour high of just under $12,300 at 10:15 UTC, but a 30-minute sell-off saw its price fall to $11,671.
At the time of writing, BTC is trading at $11,471, a decline of 6.5% in the past 24 hours.
