**Bitcoin Dips Below $30,000 as Crypto Market Struggles**
The price of Bitcoin fell below $30,000 on Monday, as the broader cryptocurrency market continued to struggle.
The world's largest cryptocurrency was trading at $29,700 at the time of writing, down more than 10% from its peak of nearly $69,000 in November.
Other major cryptocurrencies were also down, with Ethereum falling more than 15% to $1,900 and Solana down more than 10% to $48.
The sell-off in cryptocurrencies comes as investors grow increasingly concerned about rising inflation and interest rates.
The Federal Reserve is expected to raise interest rates by 50 basis points next month, which could put further pressure on risky assets such as cryptocurrencies.
“The 10-year treasury yield is the quietly climbing back up,” said Markus Thielen, head of research and strategy at crypto-services provider Matrixport. “This needs monitoring in terms of a warning sign.”
“We would be consider taking some profits as the crypto market is showing exuberant signs,” Thielen added. “Ideally, the delta should be replaced with upside call spreads in case prices continue to rally.”
According to Alex Kupssikevich, a senior market analyst at FXPro, Bitcoin may struggle to establish a foothold above the former support-turned-resistance level of $30,000 in the short term.
“Traders should be prepared that the $30,000 mark for the first cryptocurrency can act as solid resistance after it was rigid support in 2021,” Kupsikevich said in an email.
Over the weekend, tech billionaire and crypto proponent Elon Musk said that U.S. government agencies had full ability to access Twitter user activity, including direct messaging.
The shocking revelation came days after social trading platform eToro announced plans to offer crypto trading services to Twitter users.
