**Bitcoin Cash investor lost $45 million in a SIM swap attack**
An investor, believed to be the founder of Dreamhost Josh Jones, lost 1,500 Bitcoin Cash (BCH) worth $14.4 million in a SIM swap attack.
The hack is related to Jones’s phone SIM. He has not yet confirmed if it was a SIM swap or other methods.
In a deleted post, Jones asked BCH miners to not verify the transaction. He wrote:
“It only has 3 confirmation stages, if any community or miners have a way to support, please help me. I have a private key code. And the reward is of course huge. Please help.”
Dovey Wan, co-founder at Primitive Ventures, warned that this incident could be more serious than just Jones’s personal problem.
Wan confirmed that Jones holding a large amount of cryptocurrency in his phone was quite uncomfortable and the attack was extremely “serious”.
Wan added that if the hackers split the money into small amounts, it would be very easy to disperse on the trading floors.
“Nothing more, the hack of 60,000 BCH, the dispute between Ver and Jihan, all is the knife slowly to the ambition of the BCH.”
